Le Guin Memorial Reading Tonight

It’s going to take me a few blog posts to explore the feelings of loss and responsibility that have arisen in me since the passing of Ursula K. Le Guin. One quote that keeps coming to mind comes from Laurie Anderson’s Heart of a Dog: “Finally I saw it, the connection between love and death, and that the purpose of death is the release of love.”

When I heard my favorite author had died, I felt a strong desire to gather with community. So I have put together this reading, happening tonight in Seattle. The readers are absolute powerhouses, some of the biggest names in the genre. They’ll all be reading from Le Guin’s body of work and sharing memories. If you’re around, I hope you’ll come experience the love. We’ll also have several five-minute open mic slots for members of the audience. If you’d like to sign up for one, please arrive before our 7:00 start time.

Details of the event are here. I hope you’ll join us.
